These John Boos butcher block countertops are made of hard rock maple, one of the hardest and most durable woods available, and have an edge-grain construction. The countertops are 25" deep, 1-1/2" thick, and are available in a variety of widths from 12" to 109" to fit kitchens of any size. Full-length rails run the entire counter top for a continuous look. The counter tops come in an oil or varnique finish. An optional backsplash is also available.

This is my third hard rock maple counter top from Kitchen Source. Needless to say but, these are the best tops available. I just love them! The 72"er just purchased is being transformed into a wood working bench for the shop.

I want to get a 72" hard rock maple counter top and cut it to go on each side of a drop in sink. What do I need to do to the ends I cut to seal them?
What is the difference between the two finishes you offer? Thank You - Asked about product JB-KCT08-o
John Boos recommend that you use the mystery oil or mineral oil (available at any local hardware store) to finish the sides that they cut. If it is going up next to a sink they would recommend that you apply a polyurethane to seal it and help to protect it more from the water that could come into contact with it and damage the item. Their oil finish is what they recommend if you are planning on using it to cut things on. If you are going to be using it as a surface that you will not be cutting on and you do not want to have to do the monthly maintenance then they would recommend the varnique finish.

Do we need to seal the oil finished countertops before installation? - Asked about product JB-KCT09A-o
Oil tops must be maintained with oil (John Boos oil or Mineral oil) once a month.
