The butcher block is just what I needed. I looks great in my kitchen, and is functional, too. I am very pleased.

Totally pleased
by: Allan Reniche     from: Sacramento, CA      on: December 22, 2011
Removal of countertop range left gaping hole in Corian counter, pattern impossible to match. Butcher block counter sedemed to be most practically and affordable solution

The wood counters were beautiful and priced very well. I was expecting more varnish on it though

Very pleased with my walnut butcher block. Good quality high end product. Pity now that didn't buy that for all of my countertops, but do not want to wait for 4 more weeks.

What is the difference between oil and varnique finish? Is one easier to care for then the other?   - Asked about product JB-WALKCTBL8425-O
The oil finish is mandatory if you are going to want to do any food prep, chopping or cutting on the board. The oil finish is applied by John Boos prior to shipment but this does have to be re-oiled and cared for. The varnique finish is better for use as a counter top and does not require maintenance further than standard cleaning and up keep. Instructions for either type of top are supplied with the order.
