| ||Crosley Furniture #KF30024DMA, Cambridge Solid Black Granite Top Portable Kitchen Island in Vintage Mahogany Finish
My wife and I ordered this island/cart based upon its appearance on the web site photo and on the positive reviews it has received. The color and finish of the island/cart and top in the display picture turned out to be very accurate.
We too would like to add our positive feedback for this product. I would have given this item the full 5 stars except for a couple of minor concerns.
Shipping and Delivery: 5 Stars
The cart and especially the granite top were packaged very securely as was mentioned by other reviewers. There was no damage to the cart or top.
The cart shipped and arrived very quickly (about 4 to 5 days). The boxes that the cart and top shipped in are very heavy and it will probably require two people or a hand cart to move any distance.
Directions and Assembly: 4 Stars
Once all parts were unpacked and this does take awhile (maybe 30 to 45 minutes), the assembly went relatively quickly (about an hour or so). The directions for assembly are clear and all parts are tagged with labels.
I would also suggest that in addition to the regular size Phillips screw driver you try to get a shorter one as well (about 3 or 4 inches long). There are two cam-locks that are particularly hard to engage with a normal length screw driver.
My first minor concern involves the unpacking of the granite top. It was packed very securely as mentioned above and I appreciate that. However I feel there should have been some type of direction or guidance as to the quickest and easiest way to disassemble the wooden crate that was protecting the granite top.
A second minor problem concerns the cam-locks. Having assembled several pieces of furniture of this type over the years, it seems to me that these particular cam-locks were not as robust and were also more difficult to lock in properly. All were ultimately secured albeit on the second or third attempt for some of them. I also would not recommend attempting to lift the island/cart by the granite top. This is a very heavy cart and there are only four of these cam-locks securing the top to the base.
The final concern and perhaps the most problematic involved the attachment of the towel bars. On one of the tile bars the factory failed to machine one of the threaded holes to the correct depth The threaded hole was approximately a half inch too shallow and as a consequence the Allen bolt would not tighten down to secure the towel bar to the cart. I was able to resolve this problem by cutting 1/2 inch off the bolt, dressing up the cut end and installing the bolt as normal.
Keeping in mind the type of furniture you are purchasing, the assembled island/cart presents a very pleasing appearance and will probably serve very well for many years

| ||I hesitated buying something unseen. But, I was very pleased with this item. It is beautifully finished - a quality wood product - granite is very nice. No problems putting it together and the packaging was excellent. That piece of granite was extremely well packed.
