Choosing a Bath Vanity

Are you looking for an easy way to change the mood of your bathroom?
Try rethinking your bath vanity. Chances are, it's left over from the
70s, complete with dark wood and an avocado top made of Formica. Maybe
it's not quite that old, but you've grown tired of the way it looks.
Bathrooms these days are all about sanctuary. If you're not feeling
calm and rested when you step into your bathroom, perhaps it's time to
update. There are so many choices available, you're bound to find
something that lifts your spirits and gives your bathroom a
mini-facelift. Your options will depend on the
size of your bathroom, naturally. Consider also who will be using this
bathroom the most. Is it a master bath, a kids' bath, a guest bath or
a powder room? If it's a master bathroom, you will most likely want a
larger vanity with two sinks. Dual sinks make

bathroom more efficient, because they allow
two people to use the vanity simultaneously, which saves time. If space is
an issue, try two
pedestal
sinks instead of a large vanity. For a children's bathroom, you may want
to use a theme, like a favorite character or activity. If that's the case, a
simple background is usually best. Just follow the colors found in the bath
accessories you've chosen and let them be your guide. A dual sink vanity
also works well in the children's bathroom, especially if there are two or
more kids using the same space.
In your guest bath or powder room, you may
want to be a little moreadventurous and introduce an element of
drama or glamour with colors and fixtures that are elegant and
opulent. Deep, rich colors,

plush fabrics and a combination of textures create a room that appeals to the
senses.
The ideal bath vanity
sets the tone of your bathroom and reinforces the essence of your design and
decor. Determine whether your vanity will be the focus in your bathroom, or
if it will play a more secondary role in your design scheme. For instance,
if you choose a bath vanity that is romantic in style and has
handpainted
scenes or is quite
detailed, you may want to play down the other details in the
bathroom to let the vanity and its beauty shine through.

If storage is an
issue, the vanity you choose should be one that has cabinet and drawer
space so you can keep all of your bath items organized and out of sight.
Many of these vanities look like antique furniture that have been handed
down through the family. For bathrooms that do not require extra storage
capability, consider a

glass
or wood
countertop sink to create a modern, minimalist look. Make an artistic
statement with a
stainless steel vanity and polished chrome sink. A
simple bath
vanity crafted of wood with graceful curves and clean lines adds a
country charm.
Finding the bathroom
vanity that's perfect for you may take some time, but the results of your
efforts will be well worth it. You can make a huge difference in the way
your bathroom looks and feels just by updating just one or two elements,
which will save you time and money in the end.
