A number of years ago, I received a kitchen cart as a gift. The drop-leaf cart had a drawer and two shelves. At that time, I was living in an apartment with a large kitchen, but I had very little counter space. Whenever I needed to do any kind of food preparation, I just rolled the cart to wherever I needed it and I had an instant workspace.
