Broen Range fan is a powerful unit. Happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.
Quiet, efficient operation by: Tom from: Waterford, MI on: February 3, 2011
I replaced the original vent because it was too loud and did not seem to do much. This new one installed in the same space as the other one but I could not re-use the old liner. It took less than an hour to switch the liner and power module.
My only complaint is with the lights. They can only be 40w candlestick bulbs and they do not provide enough work light.
It sucks a lot better than the old one.
Great price-could use better lighting by: Peter M. Nelson from: Long Beach, WA on: July 24, 2009
I purchased this vent for kitchen. The fan has lots of speeds and is only moderately noisy. My only complaint is the lighting. It takes two "candlabra size bulbs and only low wattage. It doesn't throw nearly enough light onto the range. I would definatly like to have at least 3 times as much light and I would rather have a standard base light bulb.
nothing special, but it works by: Lorinda from: Carlsbad, CA on: July 15, 2009
I'm not an expert evaluator of power packs, but this one seems to be fine. A bit difficult to get the filter screen back in, once removed to clean or change light bulbs (which don't come with the unit), but otherwise it works much better than my previous unit.
Works well. by: Jeff from: Taylosville, NC on: July 15, 2009
Product works well. We installed it in a custom range top hood. It works well for most cooking. We did try grilling on our gas range top once, but wew did not turn the fan on right away so the kitchen filled with smoke. However, after turning the fan on it did a pretty good job of clearing the smoke. If you plan on indoor grilling, I would install a fan with a higher CFM.
I'm looking at two products: 1. Broan PM390 (390 CFM/6 Sones) and 2. Broan PM 350 (250 CFM/8 Sones.
I want the quietest efficiency and the rating are confusing me. CFM is higher on #1 but the sones are higher on
I've been lead to believe both play a part in the noise level.
Which one would be quieter? - Asked about product BR-PM390
The BR-PM390 is 6.0 Sones and the BR-PM250 is 8 Sones. In this case the PM390 would be quieter.

I'm confused as to whether this item comes with or without the liner. It says in one spot that it's included FREE, but then it says that also ordered together is the liner?? Also, this will work for a ventless system correct? Do I had to purchase the filters separately? Thank you - Asked about product BR-PM390
The BR-PM390 is only the blower. The liner is purchased separately. If you are purchasing an Omega National Wood Hood, then they include a silver metallic liner with a wood hood purchase for a Broan blower. If you are not going to vent outside, then you need to buy the ductless kit, which is model # BR-357NDK. The liners and the ductless kit can be found in the accessories.

How do I determine how many CFM's I need? - Asked about product BR-PM390
Generally speaking an electric cook top is low powered and should only need a range hood output between 150cfm - 300cfm. If you have an electric deep fat fryer you will need to treat it as if it was a gas stove top.
"Regular" gas cook tops have outputs of up to around 40,000btu [British Thermal Units] and, since they are almost always used in an "against the wall" situation, you can use this simple formula to help make your choice. Calculate your cook top's btu rating by adding the power of each burner and then divide the total by 100, e.g. a 30,000btu top will require a 300cfm fan.
